Modec's Apparatus Division produces specially designed decontamination units for radiological decon for nuclear weapons facilities and other nuclear operations. Designed to meet the demanding criteria of DOE STD 1088-95, our unit feature seamless construction throughout and sepcially coated walls and ceilings. Modec's units have been used in high level locations such as Rocky Flats, Colorado and Hanford, Washington and used by contractors such as EG&G and CH2MHill.
- Foam injected walls provided extremely strong, but lightweight construction. Using all-aluminum Z-bar construction with anodized aluminum posts, they are 75% less weight than steel post construction. The useful life of these units is 20+ years. Seamless foam injected walls are impervious to moisture. Steel post construction uses FRP panels on plywood - moisture causes permanent damage and rust.
- Modec units feature C&C machined sloped shower pans that insure proper draining of each shower area. Drain troughs are tripping hazards and do not fully guarantee avoidance of cross-contamination.
- Modec’s coatings provided the highest possible ratings - far in exceeding even Class A Fire ratings: Ignitability - 0; Heat Involvement - 0; Flame Spreadibility - 0; and Smoke Development - 0 (Per ASTM Testing)..
- Modec’s units are 102” wide providing a full extra foot of width to the functional operations areas. Modec’s systems are easy to use, even for the untrained. Modec features high quality, all stainless componentry throughout.
